Translating John 2:10
Here is the Greek, and how various translations have rendered it in English.

RSV:
and said to him, "Every man serves the good wine first;
and when men have drunk freely,
then the poor wine;
but you have kept the good wine until now."

NRSV:
and said to him, "Everyone serves the good wine first,
and then the inferior wine
after the guests have become drunk.
But you have kept the good wine until now."

NIV:
and said, "Everyone brings out the choice wine first
and then the cheaper wine
after the guests have had too much to drink;
but you have saved the best till now."

NJB:
and said, "Everyone serves good wine first
and the worse wine
when the guests are well wined;
but you have kept the best wine till now.

NEB:
and said, 'Everyone serves the best wine first,
and waits until the guest have drunk freely
before serving the poorer sort;
but you have kept the best wine until now.'

TEV:
and said to him, "Everyone else serves the best wine first,
and after the guests have drunk a lot,
he serves the ordinary wine.
But you have kept the best wine until now!"

REBrown:
and pointed out to him, "Everyone serves choice wine first;
then, when the guests have been drinking awhile,
the inferior wine.
But you have kept the choice wine until now."
