Chapter 1: The quest

1 In the name of God
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love,
the compassionate, the merciful,
who is and is beyond,
who acts and is stillness,
who judges and permits.

2 In the name of God
who is one and acts in many ways,
who never changes and constantly reveals anew,
who was, and is, and will be,
who is without contradiction and is infinite in variety.

3 In the name of God
who is everywhere and apart. 
Who is and is beyond being.

4 In the name of God
who you seek and cannot find
who you call and does not answer
who does not do what you know should be done.

5 In the name of God
a name for what you seek
a sound for your destination
a word without definition which is the word for the infinity that is beyond definition.

6 In the name of God
our quest, our yearning, our hope.
We seek you, we are hunting for you and we will not stop.
