Sixty two years in a row we have won more
games at home than we lost. Starting in the 1946-47 season under
Jack Gardner and continuing through the 50's the 60's, Vietnam,
the 70's, recession, growth, wars, we've done it. Nine coaches
have been a part of it; it started before we'd ever been to the
Final Four and its continued through the era of the program falling
out of prominence.
This may or may not be an
NCAA record. Haven't seen any official word. But, as the right hand
column shows, some pretty big programs have not come close to this.
Is it a record? Duke may have a longer streak. North Carolina has some right to talk about home court dominance, though they don't have a very long active streak going.
Notice that we can claim this streak honestly
- we've never had a .500 record in the streak, not one. |
